Ayanna from According to Yanni D. Covers The Bésame Vanilla Launch at Chic Studios
When you combine art history and beauty you get a vintage makeup brand dedicated to highlighting the style, spirit and sensibility of a woman. Bésame Cosmetics is that brand and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing vintage Hollywood beauty front and center.
Thanks to founder Gabriela Hernandez and Chic Studios NYC, I had the opportunity to attend an informative presentation on the history of makeup application from the 1920s to the 1940s. I was in complete awe at how important it is to be authentic when applying makeup in different time periods. The slightest thing could compromise an entire look and shift it into a different era from the thickness of an eyebrow to the fullness of the lips.
This is best illustrated in previous Bésame Cosmetics work in some top rated shows such as Mad Men, American Horror Story and Marvel’s Agent Carter. Thanks to Bésame Cosmetics everyone adores Peggy Carter’s red velvet lipstick. Authenticity is really what makes this vintage inspired brand so special. The products, which are handmade using unique makeup formulas, manufactured and designed in the U.S, are taken from similar items produced during that era and modernized for the women of today. Gabriela thoroughly researchers and compiles an archive of products from the specified era to ensure that the modern version will be as compatible as possible while utilizing her unique skin sensitive healthy ingredients.
After the presentation we were fortunate enough to observe a 1920s makeup demonstration by a Bésame artist using products from the line. In addition, we were gifted with our own Bésame goodies, which included: Bésame Cosmetics new brightening Vanilla and French Vanilla Face Powder (amazing product now available at your nearest Sephora) and Bésame Cherry Red and American Beauty Lip Samplers.
Overall, I left the event feeling inspired about vintage beauty and excited to experiment with my own looks from those times periods. Thanks to my Bésame goodies I am off to a great start.
