First Annual Curl Fest at Prospect Park
Here is what you missed out on if you did not get to attend this years Curlfest and for those who did here is a trip down memory lane.
There was no better way to kick off the start to summer than to grab a few friends and head over to Brooklyn for what seemed like the most anticipated get together yet. The sun, being outdoors and surrounded by good folk while sippin some VitaCoco Pineapple Yum!
The definition of “Sunday Fun-day” entails good vibes, great people and an awesome time. The 1st Annual Curl Fest was just that. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Sunday along with my curl friends. The Curly Collective along with their fabulous sponsors and vendors put on what I like to call a celebration of sisterhood. The event took place on Sunday, June 22nd in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Many African-American women as well as Afro-Latina women have put down the creamy crack and embraced their natural hair just the way it is. There has been an immense amount of people joining the “natural movement” as well as supporting it. From this there are many who contribute their process of their hair growth and transformation in blogs as well as the products they use to make their hair flourish. We finally got the chance to meet them in person. Curl Fest was the perfect meet up spot for all natural sisters and brothers to come together and celebrate more than just their natural hair but also each other by joining together in a day of fun, laughs, and great vibes. I had the most awesome time and got to reunite with some friends I haven’t seen in a while.
Let me not forget to mention the amazing goodie bag filled with products I can not wait to put to use; including some of my favorites like EDEN Body Work, Miss Jessie’s, Shea Moisture, Curls, Ouidad, and L’oreal. I was happier than a 4-year-old at a candy store. The curl Fest is most certainly glam girl approved and we can’t wait to join in next years celebration. I am a proud curly girl!
