How To Organize Your Closet With Out Spending Too Much
If you’re like me, you have a list of things you want to accomplish in 2016, like getting a grip on your overstuffed closet. Knowing you need to clean house is the first step, the hardest part is actually organizing it.
Organization is a hard task but anyone can be organized as long as they show regular commitment. You don’t even have to be creative because there are many thought out designs already created by the pros to help you transform an all over the place closet into an orderly one for little to no cost. I recommend the next 7-steps to help you get started:
Step 1: Toss Anything You Haven’s Worn in a Year. Take a look at the piece and try to remember when was the last time you wore it. If you cant, toss it!
Step 2: Remove everything that isn’t clothing or shoes. Some people mistake their wardrobe closet for miscellaneous storage. Store boxes of books, paperwork and decorations elsewhere; those things should not be kept in this closet. If it’s not related to your daily wearing, then find a new home for it.
Step 3: Buy Uniform Hangers. I use the same style and color hangers! This is crucial to keeping and making your closet look organized. Your clothes will appear clean and polished. I recently tried lighter color hangers to make my closet look brighter.
Step 4: Consider Adjustable Shelves. I don’t necessarily have adjustable shelves but have some already built in my closet. You can use these for everything from putting your shoe collection on display or adding folded sweaters and pants.
Step 5: Try to leave your closet floor clear. Pick up everything up off the floor, if possible. Instead use large baskets or shelves to organize and store items like belts or scarves.
Step 6: Show off Your Purse Collection. If you have a fashionable bag, why have it in a bin under your bed. Show off that bad boy. Put them somewhere accessible so that you’re reminded to accessorize with your outfit. If you can’t see it, chances are you will forget you have it.
Step 7: Reassess Every 3-6 Months in order to Maintain Organization. Your closet wont stay organized over time, so you must regularly reassess your belongings and get rid of the items you are not using. After reading this post set aside 30 minutes on a Saturday or Sunday and use the tips above to help guide you. TRUST me you will thank me later.
