M3 GLAM supports women empowerment and giving our readers a voice that is refreshing and offers a different perspective is important to us. Over the years and after the many events our #GLAMGirls have attended we have met some awesome Blogger Babes as we like to call them. Women who are distinguished in their own rights and have more than just their great looks to offer. With a busy Fashion Week and not enough man power to cover every event we spread the wealth and gave some of our favorite fashion and beauty bloggers the opportunity to be guest correspondents and cover exclusively for M3GLAM giving us their take on the experience. Below is a review by Lisa Rosado of LisaRosado.com on the Dorin Negrau SS15 show at Lincoln Center on September 11, 2014 at 12pm.
Get ready to vamp it up with Transylvania-born designer Dorin Negrau’s NYFW debut runway show!
Dorin’s S/S 2015 collection is inspired by the myth of Dracula while drawing in elements of traditional Romanian embroidery and costume technique.
We kicked the show off with a mysteriously daunting tune as the first model turned toward the audience freeing herself of a spider web-esque cape revealing an all back jumpsuit with asymmetrical cuts and lace detailing–a testament has to how the rest of the show would pan out. No one knew what to expect after such a dramatic entrance! As the model stomped down the runway the music grew heavier and heavier, yet the looks grew lighter featuring lots of white elements while transcending back into darkness. Some of my favorite pieces featured embroidered belts, lace detailing, exposed backs, sheer, flowy chiffon and crisp white tops!
As a true New Yorker, I really appreciated the added element of the black tape Dorin requested each model wear long their hair partition in commemoration of 9/11. To top off the looks, the models sported perfectly “undone” done up do’s, gorgeous hand-stitched statement earrings with a soft smokey eye and, perhaps the most interesting detail, red cross-stitched lips. And we can’t forget the mirrored, metal-framed, Lennon-esque sunglasses, which I need in my life. Whether wearing super high heels or casual, comfortable flip flops, the model glided effortlessly down the runway. I’d best describe the collection as sexy-bohemian-rocker-chic!
Although Dorin Negrau’s collection may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the more I think about the show and look back at the pictures, the more I grow to appreciate Dorin’s S/S 2015 collection, which is such a departure from his light and airy S/S 2014 collection! A risk well taken.
